About Silence & Starsong

from the silent depths to the loud, singing spheres of Heaven

mission

In the present age of raw materialism and scientific achievement, it’s almost as if every technological advancement makes our planet a little less home and the people around us a little less human; it remains true that only a good story can transport you into worlds of adventure and intrigue.

At Silence & Starsong, we believe that narrative has the power to transform our minds and environments, making us a little more human again. Through science fiction and fantasy, we can explore the limitless possibilities of the human experience and connect with others who share our passion for storytelling.

Our mission is to provide a platform for visionary storytellers to share their work with readers who crave adventure and a deeper understanding of the world around us. We are committed to showcasing writers who can stand in the gap between man and machine as the voice of reason and fostering an uplifting community of readers and writers.

Whether you are seeking to escape into new worlds or create your own, Silence & Starsong offers opportunities to engage with fellow enthusiasts, improve your craft, and explore the meaning and significance of the world around us.

our editors

Joseph Knowles

Born and raised on the “Redneck Riviera,” Joseph earned his undergraduate degree in history before completing law school. He now resides in Southeast Virginia with his wife and three children. Joseph has numerous published short stories and two self-published novels.

Ben Woodring

Inspired by late night radio shows and old sci-fi novels, Ben’s interest in the supernatural has only grown since childhood. However, it wasn’t until he developed an interest in theology as an adult that he realized the enchanted world he yearned for was not a fiction, but a reality. As an editor and author, Ben invites readers to experience the world that is, as it is.

Thomas Roof

Thomas has always been intrigued by myths and legends, preferring to view history through a symbolic lens. In his search for an American Logres – a legendary kingdom existing in America’s future – he reads, writes, and tills the soil of his own backyard Eden, eagerly awaiting the appearance of an Arthurian King.

Blake Blount

A Georgia-based engineer, farmer, husband, and father of three, Blake’s childhood was filled with fables and fairytales that kindled a love for fantastical realms. Inspired by authors like Lewis and Tolkien, Blake is quick to dip his quill into the ancient magic that seeps through the cracks of everyday life.

Tyler Smith

Trapped in the urban hellscape of Las Vegas, NV, Tyler spends his days thinking about what went wrong. While he is pretty sure the world didn’t end in 1969, he’s at least open to the idea that whatever knocked over the Tower of Babel won’t hesitate to smack our space-faring society back into the stone age. His wife and children are very concerned.

We have a multitude of authors who contribute their original stories.
